This course offers an introduction to the techniques of literary fiction through a close reading of great masters of short stories, both classic and contemporary. It is a safe space for personal and group expression, a practical laboratory for identifying the elements that give strength to a text — structure, rhythm, voice, narrative economy — and testing them out on paper (or on the computer). The aim is for participants to develop observation, mental availability and critical thinking, while also recognizing their own literary voice.
