"Modes of Transport" is a multilingual travel series fictionally documented in moving image format. In the pilot episode, "Bois de Rose," the presenter's character travels on a high-speed train from Paris to Bordeaux and discovers the studio of José Le Piez, a maker of "abrassons," a friction instrument carved from wood that allows trees to sing with a simple caress of a hand.
The screening is part of the program Sounds, Images and Words – Transatlantic Dialogues, organized by Catarina Real with the support of the Luso-American Foundation, and partially hosted by the School of Arts. Admission is free.
